Shocking reports coming in from Thailand are speaking about how an entire temple full of monks was reportedly dismissed after all the holy men failed their drug tests.
Seeing all the monks get defrocked was definitely an eye-opener for many locals as this has never happened in the past.
Seeing the monks all test positive for methamphetamine was a huge eye-opener for obvious reasons. Some of the four monks included an abbot at the temple that happens to be located at the Phetchabun province’s Bung Sam Phan district.
They all returned back with positive drug tests, as confirmed by one official who inform AFP recently.
Since that incident, the monks were sent to a nearby health clinic to undergo major drug rehabilitation, as confirmed by the official.
So right now, the temple is completely empty and all nearby villagers are concerned as they feel incomplete and can’t do any merit-making as confirmed by a local official.
Merit-making is the name given to the act of involving worshippers donating food to monks as a good deed. This practice is considered to be a fundamental aspect of the mighty Buddhist religion.
Now, more monks are expected to make their way forward to the temple and allow villagers to practice their religious obligations.
Thailand is a major transit nation for methamphetamine and has been a huge problem for the nation in the past too and still continues to worry the government today.
Methamphetamine has been shown to flood the country through sources located in Myanmar’s troubled Shan state via Laos as recently confirmed by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.
