A high school student passed away after being shot in a targeted attack at a Seattle high school.
The shooting took place at Ingraham High School – a public high school in Seattle, Washington – where a male suspect infiltrated the school with his firearm before shooting a student.
According to the police, the shooting was not random, and the victim was specifically targeted by the shooter.
Following the shooting, the entire school was placed on lockdown while the police searched for the suspect.
The gunman was arrested about an hour later after he was tracked down to a local bus stop.
While the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing, reports suggest there is no immediate danger to other students at Ingraham High School.
Following the ordeal and the suspect’s arrest, the students were released and allowed to reunite with their parents.
While the victim was rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved.
Recalling the terrifying moment he was stuck outside the school fearing for his child’s safety, one parent said his son texted him about the shooting and the lockdown.
Another parent said: “I couldn’t stop crying, my heart just sank. I don’t know why we live in a society like this.”
One of the witnesses also recalled seeing the victim getting treatment on the scene while calling the incident “very sad.”
As of this writing, the motive for the shooting remains unclear, but it is believed that the gunman had a personal grudge against his victim.
