US President Joe Biden has issued a stark warning to Russian leader Vladimir Putin that America is ‘prepared to defend every inch of NATO’.
Slamming Russia’s ‘sham’ referendum and ‘disinformation and lies’ that the West blew up Nord Stream pipelines, Biden said: “Mr. Putin, don’t misunderstand what I am saying.”
This comes after Putin accused the US of creating nuclear weapons in a speech accusing ‘Anglo Saxons’ of being responsible for the Nord Stream pipeline explosions.
The Russian leader and his officials have escalated their nuclear threats as Ukraine has managed to take back territories that Russian troops invaded.
“Putin’s actions are a sign he’s struggling. The sham referendum he carried out and this team he put on … the sham routine that he put on this morning, showing the unity and people holding hands together,” Biden said in a statement.
“The United States is never going to recognize this. And quite frankly, the world’s not going to recognize it either. He can’t seize his neighbor’s territory and get away with it. It’s as simple as that.”
He also spoke to Putin directly amid fears that the Russian leader would go after a member of the NATO alliance to challenge the west.
“I want to say this again. America’s fully prepared with our NATO allies independent every single inch of NATO territory. Every single inch. So Mr. Putin, don’t misunderstand what I’m saying. Every inch,” Biden repeated.
The US President said allies are “going to stay the course to provide military equipment so that Ukraine can defend itself.”
He also said that the US will continue to support Ukraine’s efforts to take its territories back by strengthening its hand diplomatically and militarily.
