A horrifying incident in South Carolina has taken place where a three-year-old child shot his own mother and died after picking up an unsecured weapon that was lying around in his home.
According to sources from local media outlets, the child simply picked the gun up and pulled the trigger, causing the bullets to slam into his mother.
It is believed to have taken place around 8 am on Wednesday, when the child took on the unsecured gun.
The victim was identified as Cora Lyn Bush who died in front of the child’s grandmother, leaving her absolutely stunned at the crime.
The family was spending quality time at their residence in Spartanburg in South Carolina when that shooting took place.
The mom then passed away, just two hours later, at a local hospital.
At the moment, the terrifying incident is being investigated by authorities and hence they are yet to name the grandmother or the young child.
The cops were seen requesting people to pray for the victim and their loved ones as this is a terrible tragedy to witness and endure.
“It is a time of immense loss and grief and we offer our sincere condolences to the family during this difficult period”- they revealed.
The news was confirmed by the Sheriff’s office recently via a Facebook post that the mom passed away tragically at the local hospital, two hours later.
It is still not known what the unsecured weapon was doing at the residence and how the young child gained access to the firearm with so much ease that it led to the death of his own mother.
As of now, the investigation is in progress. But police claim it was an accidental shooting due to the unsecured firearm lying around.
