Women in Iran have resorted to burning their headscarves and chopping their hair in anger and protest of what was done by the country’s morality police recently.
According to local media outlets, a young woman was arrested and tortured in police custody when she opted against wearing the hijab and covering her head. And now, people are coming out on the streets to condemn the behavior which they feel is a clear violation of human rights and their freedom.
Clashes between various activist groups and the cops were seen taking place on the streets and that just made many people furious as to what was going on and why.
Fire and fights broke out amid a sea of violent arrests that were filmed with viral images showing the increase in tension in the country’s capital city of Tehran recently.
In what is being described as a form of historical change, people are directly challenging the authorities and the government and standing up for their rights for the first time because they claim they’ve had enough of this oppression.
The death toll so far has arisen to ten as violent rages continue across the nation, local media outlets revealed.
But it’s not just Iran where such protests are being held but also Turkey. Women were seen protesting against the brutality in the country right outside the Iranian embassy in Turkey.
They could be seen holding locks of their hair while others held candles and mourned the dead victim who was killed for choose not to adorn her headscarf.
Meanwhile, Iranians in New York City were also seen rallying outside the United Nations building to protest against the arrival of Iranian diplomats and the President after an outcry for justice and reform regarding the death of the innocent woman took center stage in the nation.
