At least six adventurists died after ascending one of the world’s highest active volcanoes.

A group of climbers suffered a horrible defeat as they scaled the 15,884 ft Klyuchevskaya Sopka – the highest active volcano in Eurasia.

According to the reports, at least six climbers died after falling at around 13,000 ft while attempting to conquer the volcano located in eastern Russia.

While four of the fallen climbers died instantly, two passed away shortly after their fall.

Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that at least six more survivors of the group remain stranded on the mountain with evacuation and rescue attempts getting halted by bad weather.

Two of the survivors are believed to remain stationed at a camp some 10,800 ft above sea level while the other four are in a tent just some 1,600 ft beneath the summit.

Though the other survivors’ condition remains unknown, it was confirmed that one of the climbers broke his leg in the days following Tuesday’s beginning of the ascent.

It was since also revealed that the group was hiking together with two guides.

Klyuchevskaya Sopka remains one of Eurasia’s highest and most dangerous active volcanoes.

Its first recorded eruption dates back to 1697, whereas its latest major activity goes back to March 2020 when the volcano spewed ash as high as 20,000 feet into the air.

According to the Global Volcanism Programme, the volcano underwent some one hundred eruptions in the last three centuries.
