At least seven people got injured at a Los Angeles car show after a gunman opened fire on the crowd.
The mass shooting took place at Peck Park in San Pedro, Los Angeles, where gunfire erupted at the 560 block of N. Western Avenue at around 3:50 in the afternoon on Sunday.
According to the reports, at least seven people were injured in the shooting, prompting the LAPD to issue a city-wide alert. Meanwhile, the entire park was branded as a crime scene.
It is believed that the shooting occurred near the park during a car show.
LAFD confirmed that three of the victims are female and four are male. All victims are aged between 23 and 54. Two people, one male and one female, were rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
While circumstances surrounding the mass shooting remain unclear, the authorities believe that the gunfire was a result of an argument and that it wasn’t planned.
The police also believe that multiple shooters were involved in the exchange of gunfire.
As of this writing, the shooters remain at large. No suspects have yet been identified or arrested.
According to the LAPD, the officers recovered several firearms from the scene of the shooting.
“There were probably like 15 shots, and then a couple minutes later, like, 15 more shots,” one witness said in an interview with NBCLA.
Other witnesses claimed that gunfire was heard at different spots around the park including one located near the baseball field.
“We were just sitting there chilling, enjoying our Sunday, and then we heard gunshots. I just started seeing people running. Next thing you know, the gunshots came closer and closer,” another onlooker said.
