A father-of-two who abducted a woman before assaulting and beating her 18 times during a five-day reign of terror has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.
Robert Wilson pleaded guilty to the horrifying attacks on the victim, 39, whom he met on a dating app.
According to reports, the woman – who is only 45kg compared to the kidnapper’s 105kg frame – was locked inside a bedroom at his house from March 25 to March 29, 2019.
Victoria’s County Court heard that the bedroom was rigged so that an alarm would be triggered when the woman stepped outside the bedroom door.
Wilson also told the woman that if she tried to escape, he would turn her into a ‘money-making machine’ by allowing men to assault her, deport her, or kill her.
County Court Judge Fiona Todd sentenced the father-of-two to 22 years and six months behind bars. He must serve at least 16 years before he can be eligible for parole.
Wilson was reportedly discussing plans to move in with the victim only days before he kidnapped and locked her inside the bedroom of his home.
The woman was then assaulted 18 times and beaten until her face became so swollen she couldn’t see anymore.
The property was surrounded by an electric fence and metal shutters, with security cameras that track her movements.
When the woman’s friends realized that she was missing, Wilson forced her to film videos and sent it to them to ease their worries.
Five days later, he drove her back to her house and told her not to tell anyone what had happened.
The father-of-two pleaded guilty to false imprisonment, three counts of theft, r*pe, and intentionally causing injury.
“This was boundless cruelty,” the judge said.
Reading the victim impact statement, the judge said: “She was paralyzed with fear much of the time you harmed her, but her will to survive was strong. She said she feels different now, thinks that she will never be normal again.”
