A Law & Order crew member was reportedly ambushed and shot dead while outside the popular series’ filming set.
According to the preliminary reports, the killing took place on Tuesday morning, at around 5.15 am, when 31-year-old Johnny Pizarro was reserving empty parking spaces outside the set as part of his work engagements.
The New York Police Department confirmed that the young man, who previously served time in prison, was suddenly ambushed by a 5’4”, thin-built male who shot him dead while the victim was sitting in his car.
The suspect, who was wearing black pants and a black hoodie, shot Pizarro in the face and neck before running away from the murder scene.
While the 31-year-old was immediately rushed to Woodhull Hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead, ABC7 revealed.
Recalling the horrific moment, one of Pizarro’s colleagues revealed hearing a loud pop before seeing the suspect flee the scene.
“It was crazy. I didn’t hear an argument or nothing. It was quiet, early morning,” he said in an interview with The New York Post.
“It was just a pop, and the [suspect] ran up towards Nassau [Avenue]. I only heard one bang, but I don’t know how many shots.”
Meanwhile, NBC told DailyMail.com that Pizarro was a new member of the Law & Order crew as they shared sympathy for the man’s family and friends.
“We were terribly saddened and shocked to hear that one of our crew members was the victim of a crime early this morning and has died as a result,” their statement read.
“We are working with local law enforcement as they continue to investigate. Our hearts go out to his family and friends and we ask that you respect their privacy during this time.”
As of this writing, the suspect remains at large and no arrests have yet been made.
