The young girl who was killed in a Russian missile strike has been laid to rest by her heartbroken family.
Last Thursday, Russia’s Black Sea Fleet launched a Kalibr missile at the western-central Ukrainian city of Vinnytsya. The missile reportedly hit a busy office building in the city at around 10.50 am.
At least 24 people were killed in the blast and an additional 50 were severely injured, local authorities say.
Among the innocent civilians killed in the strike was a bright little girl who was photographed smiling while pushing her stroller just an hour before the incident.
According to the girl’s family, 4-year-old Liza Dmitrieva was in her stroller when the missile struck the building and killed her.
Liza’s mother, Irina, had to be rushed to the hospital after sustaining heavy injuries in the blast.
Now, the young girl’s heartbroken family gathered to pay the little angel a tribute and pay her to rest.
In a tear-jerking photo, members of the family are seen weeping in agony while leaning over the child’s open casket after bringing flowers and the girl’s favorite plush toys to the funeral.
“[Liza’s] mother was robbed of the most precious thing she had,” Irina’s aunt, Tetiana Dmytrysyna, said.
“She remembered that she was reaching for her daughter, and Liza was already dead,” she added as she recalled speaking to her niece in the hospital.
According to the reports, two other children were killed in the missile strike. As many as 200 people are believed to be injured – 50 of them critically.
Our hearts go out to the victims of Russian atrocities in Ukraine.
