A businessman in his 40s was caught on camera pulling an assault rifle on a landscaper who accidentally blocked his driveway.
46-year-old Jeremy Lee of J&S Outdoor Maintenance was working on a lawn in Clearwater, Florida, together with his daughter when they were approached by an angry resident.
According to Lee, the pair partially blocked a homeowner’s driveway by mistake while working at one of the houses in the area.
That’s when 44-year-old David Berry stormed out of his house and began yelling at Lee and his daughter, Carrie, while demanding they stop blocking his driveway.
“I immediately moved. I stopped what I was doing and I moved up, and like I said, just wasn’t good enough for him and I apologized to him,” Lee said in an interview with WFLA.
As he explained, Berry returned to his house only to fetch an assault rifle before returning to his front yard to terrify Lee and his daughter.
“This is my property. You’re not allowed to block my driveway. Don’t be a p***k,” Berry, who owns a construction business called Fat Finger Construction, yelled at Lee after the landscaper had already moved his trailer.
“You think I’m playing. Punk ass. You’re daughter better take record of how stupid her father is.”
In his expletive rant, Berry continued: “Keep recording. If it goes online, your a** will be sued, too.
“I’ll blast your f**king head off because you’re a dumba**.”
Following the confrontation, Lee and his daughter admitted they were scared for their lives as they said the incident left them traumatized.
“I thought he was going to take my dad’s life, honestly. Then I was like, ‘Well, if you take his, he’s probably going to take mine,’” Carrie said.
The matter has since been escalated to Clearwater Police who will bring the case to Pinellas-Pasco State Attorney’s Office. As WFLA revealed, Berry could face charges of aggravated assault with a firearm as a result of his actions.
“The bottom line is a dispute over parking should never have escalated to something like this,” Police Chief Dan Slaughter said.
“If you have a problem with someone partially blocking the driveway, you call the police. You don’t grab a gun like some vigilante.”
