A 10-year-old boy has been ‘hurting pretty bad’ after his mother and two-year-old sister disappeared during their camping trip.
Brayden Sidebotham-Farmer was left devastated since his mother Jill Sidebotham and his half-sister Lydia Handen went missing while camping in Philips, Maine on June 27.
Speaking to Daily Mail, the boy’s grandfather Ron Sidebotham fears that Jill’s ex-boyfriend, Nick Hansen, could hurt or kill the mother and the two-year-old girl.
“He’s trying so hard to keep it in,” the grandfather said of his grandson’s suffering. “I think he’s just that one step from breaking down.
“He’s trying to not let it get [to] him, but I can tell,” Mr. Sidebotham added. “He’s gets snappy once and a while and he’s never like that, never snappy.
“He’s such a good boy, for him to be snapping like he has the past couple of days is out of character for him.”
Brayden, who was very close to his sister, is struggling to keep it together as they continue to hear nothing about his mother and sister.
Mr. Sidebotham also believed Hansen planned to disappear with Jill and Lydia during, adding he fears there are many remote areas in which he could dispose of remains.
The family was scheduled to go back home on June 30 after celebrating the Fourth of July on a camping trip but they never came back.
Reports reveal that the mother’s phone has been turned off since June 28, only one day after she and her ex-partner left for a trip in the woods.
“(Brayden) loves his little sister so much and she loves him. Oh my god, [they’re] inseparable,” the grandfather expressed. “They’ll just laugh and laugh and laugh. He never gets upset with her.”
Sanford Police Department said they don’t suspect foul play but the grandfather believes they are toning down the situation over fears that Hansen will also vanish.
