Brian Laundrie’s mother, Roberta Laundrie, offered to assist him in a secret letter after he killed his girlfriend Gabby Petito, an attorney representing Petito’s family claims.
Attorney Patrick Riley appeared on NewsNation and hinted that even the lawyer for Laundrie’s family were shocked by the letter.
“Within that letter is an offer from Roberta Laundrie to assist her son,” Riley revealed.
“It’s a pretty interesting, pretty odd letter,” Riley continued.
Gabby Petito’s parents, Nicole Schmidt and Joseph Petito, have filed a lawsuit against Roberta and Christopher Laundrie, accusing them of protecting Brian and conspiring to help him get away.
Riley suggested that Roberta’s letter could provide proof.
On the envelope which was discovered in Petito’s van, Roberta wrote “burn after you read this,” the attorney told News Nation.
Riley also claims that the letter could help prove the Petitos’ case against the Laundries.
“There’s no date on the letter but it appears to have been written between the time that Gabby was murdered and Brian committed suicide,” he said.
“There are scenarios presented by Roberta, for example, ‘if you go to jail, I’ll bake a cake and put a knife in it or saw in it.”
The attorney said that the letter was collected as part of the investigation into Petito’s death.
“My understanding is that the letter at one point had been in the van, but then it was taken from the Laundrie home during the time when the search warrant was executed,” he added.
It was in September last year when Petito was reported missing after she and her fiancé Brian Laundrie went on a cross-country road trip.
On September 19, 2021, she was found strangled to death near Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
Brian Laundrie flee after Petito’s body was found. His body was later discovered in October.
