A 43-year-old grandmother was left with a swollen face and a concussion during a boozy bottomless brunch with her best friend.
Nat Cooper thought she could handle ‘countless’ martinis and glasses of prosecco as she celebrated her 43rd birthday.
However, the mother-of-six was left with a nasty bump on her eye and now admits that bottomless brunches “are not for me.”
The birthday girl says she has no memory of getting home or leaving the restaurant after brunch.
Nat and her best friend Siobhan had been drinking prosecco and martinis during their two-hour brunch when they both went to the restroom. She had already consumed a can of two vodkas and a can of Lambrini on the way to the restaurant because ‘Lambrini girls like to have fun.’
While sitting on the toilet, Nat kept the cubicle door open so she and Siobhan could continue talking but she topped over and hit the floor, leaving her with a huge bump on her eye.
“Seeing my eye the next day, I was shocked,” she expressed. “I was frantic, like what have I done? Please tell me I’ve not been fighting – I’m a nan!
“I’ve only been to one bottomless brunch before, in Wigan, and I was sick at the restaurant before we left.
“This was my birthday day out with my best friend, so I was excited and thought I’m really letting my hair down.”
Nat said that she had just returned from a holiday and thought she could handle more cocktails.
“These hit differently,” she said. “Obviously, we’d had pre-drinks – two big big vodkas because Siobhan pours them like a pro. I got a drink for on the bus too – a can of Lambrini, because Lambrini girls like to have fun, don’t they?
“We got to the cocktail place and I just started necking the cocktails.
“I was drinking (martinis) but you get a glass of prosecco as well which keeps getting filled up so you’ve got two drinks at a time and both my hands were full. I was like a pig in s**t.”
A kind stranger offered to take them home and they asked to get dropped off at their local pub. Siobhan and her mother had to carry the birthday celebrant home.
“I was like Dory out of Finding Nemo – I kept forgetting I had fallen and asking who hit me. The restaurant itself was second to none, a beautiful place and lovely staff,” she expressed.
“I hope they let me back, it wasn’t their fault, it was my fault, I shouldn’t have been pre-drinking! I don’t think bottomless brunches are for me!”
