Indiana police have confirmed that a young boy who was found stuffed inside a suitcase had died from dehydration.
According to local media reports, a young child was found inside a suitcase last month. Authorities had spotted a suspicious-looking bag in the woody area of Indiana and when they opened it, they found a boy stuffed inside.
The boy had died but there were no signs of trauma on his body and that’s when an autopsy was taken to determine the exact cause of death.
Now, the reports by the medical examiner’s officer are being shared with the public.
And according to them, the child died from dehydration that most likely resulted from an electrolyte imbalance.“He had no signs of trauma. He most likely died from the dehydration that is usually observed from a patient suffering from illnesses like the common stomach flu”- the medical findings went on to reveal.
The victim was believed to be just 5 years old and was found in clean clothes, stuffed inside a suitcase. Even his toxicology reports came out to be negative, adding more mystery to the already bizarre incident.
Detectives leading the case believe that the child was already dead when he was stuffed inside the suitcase with a hard shell that had ‘Las Vegas’ printed across it. Detectives also stated how they believe the child died within seven days of when the suitcase was located.
The child’s identity was not revealed but he was believed to have been four feet tall with a slim build and having short hair.
As investigations into the case continue, a funeral for the child has been organized in Indiana next week.
