The grieving family of a 14-year-old boy who tragically died after falling from a 430ft free-fall ride in Florida say a stranger has been posing as his cousin and giving interviews.
Lawyers representing Tyre Sampson’s family said that none of the relatives knew the woman who has no connection to the victim.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed that the teen’s mother, Nekia Dodd, said to investigators that she doesn’t know the woman who was identified as Lewishena Browning.
According to Orlando Sentinel, Browning has multiple records in Florida, including a pending arson case.
She was employed as a stripper at the Flash Dancers Orlando club but the owner said he terminated the 32-year-old after she lied about her connections to the Sampson family.
Browning has been widely seen in photos and videos crying at a makeshift memorial at ICON Park, giving heartbreaking interviews about Tyre’s tragic death, and collecting thousands of signatures for a petition to have the ride shut down.
Only days after the teen’s death, Browning appeared before cameras and claimed that her cousin had been turned away from two other rides for being ‘too big’ before he was allowed to go on the Free Fall ride.
Speaking to CNN, she said: “He called me he say, ‘They let me ride. I can ride. I can ride.’ I didn’t know it would be my last time talking to him alive. He just wanted to ride and have a good time.”
Browning also spoke in tears about having to clean her cousin’s blood from the ride.
“They left it there and I had to clean it up,” she said through sobs.
According to reports, Browning has been arrested more than eight times in four different counties in Florida, including domestic assault, larceny, license revoked, and resisting an officer.
