Three thieves managed to bust into a residential area and make their way into an apartment where they shot a resident before fleeing with valuables.
The victim was identified as a 39-year-old man who reportedly answered a knock on the door at his home in Sheepshead Bay.
Cops claim that the horrifying act took place on Saturday during the afternoon hours.
The robbers tried to sneak in by claiming that the resident had not paid their dues for the month for some unknown expense, as stated by the authorities. The female accomplice was the first to arrive at the door with the two male robbers behind her.
After opening the door, the three gang members barged inside the Voorhies Avenue Apartment. The victim claims that two men wielded guns at him, forcing him to remain captive.
Before they knew it, the men began to search his home and demanded they hand over some of the belongings.
And that’s when a fight over resistance broke out, causing one of the thieves to shoot the male victim in the leg.
The male suspects then bound the resident’s wrists together using zip ties and began their looting spree inside the apartment.
Cops claim that the crooks managed to steal expensive belongings that included a Rolex watch as well as an iPhone 12, alongside the victim’s credit cards too.
The men fled along with the woman and continue to remain at large till early Monday.
The gunshot victim was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn where he is described to be in a stable condition.
A search is being conducted by police in Brooklyn as an investigation into the tragic incident continues.
