An elderly man was left covered in bruises all over his body after being handcuffed and dragged around by police officers.

The incident took place in Canada where 78-year-old grandfather Gerry Charlebois was apprehended by the police for honking his car horn during a Freedom Convoy rally in Ottawa.

After being approached by two police officers, the old man was handcuffed and treated roughly before being fined $110 for causing “unnecessary noise” during the rally.

In the pictures of the aftermath, Charlebois can be seen covered in bruises on his hands, arms, knees, and legs. Though he was not criminally charged, the grandfather has been left traumatized according to his attorney, David Anber.

“He’s pretty traumatized by the entire situation. We are going to fight these provincial charges and explore the possibility of filing a civil suit,” Atty. Anber confirmed in an interview with DailyMail.com.

He added: “Based on the info I have, it seems clear that the officer either had the man’s name or chose not to ask the man’s name prior to arresting him. Failing to provide a driver’s license is NOT an arrestable offence if the person provides their verbal identification.”

Meanwhile, the traumatized senior spoke out to Toronto Sun and insisted that he meant no harm and that he simply honked his car horn in support of the protesters he saw by the road.

“I meant no harm. I just gave the trucker a thumbs-up and a honk,” Charlebois said.

“I was in shock. When (the police) pulled me over, he told me I was in trouble for honking the horn.”

Slamming the police were also Gerry’s two sons, Steve and Gerald.

“He’s just 4 foot 10. He wouldn’t hurt anybody,” Steve said as he revealed his father had to be taken to the hospital for an X-ray after his rough handling.

“They didn’t seem to arrest any of those big truckers like that. I find it disgusting. There was no need to be so rough with him,” Gerald added.
