Horrifying reports have confirmed the death of a transgender woman who was reportedly shot and killed by her own family member.
The news comes from Iraq where 23-year-old Doski Azad was gunned down by her enraged brother who didn’t appreciate her ambitious goals.
The young woman wanted to lead an independent life and make a living for herself on her own terms. For this reason, she left her home to work in a salon which worried her family members.
Little did Doski know that her own long-lost brother was out hunting for her.
The brother arrived one day and shot and killed the poor woman who suffered the worst injuries and couldn’t survive as a result of the heinous crime.
The suspect has been identified as Chakdar Azad who reportedly labeled the crime as honor killing.
The family informed authorities about the woman’s murder, about three days after the crime had taken place, as confirmed by local media outlets.
Doski was described as a brave young woman who wished to break all stigmas and stereotypes that encircled her. Moreover, she even promoted her transition on social media to help give others the courage to come forward and live their lives according to their will.
The victim’s dead body was found around 12 miles north of the Iraqi Kurdish area of Duhok.
At the moment, no arrests have been made as authorities claim that the suspect managed to flee the country after committing the crime.
Doski left her residence around five years back to start her life fresh and make a living for herself, despite receiving so many threats from her own family who opposed her decision greatly.
Her uncle has condemned the killing but has also revealed how the young woman made the wrong decision to flee from her loved ones and start a new job at a salon.
