Former Miss USA and Extra host Cheslie Kryst penned a haunting essay just weeks before she allegedly jumped to her death from an NYC skyscraper.
On Sunday morning, first responders rushed to the Orion building in Manhattan after reports of a woman that plunged to her death from the terrace on the 29th floor.
The deceased woman was later identified as 30-year-old Cheslie Kryst, an inspiring model who became an associate attorney at Poyner-Spruill LLP, founded the White Collar Glam blog, worked as a host for Extra, and won the Miss USA pageant back in 2019.
As of this writing, no foul play is suspected and the woman’s death is being treated as suicide.
It has now also come to light that the young model penned a very concerning essay for the Allure magazine just weeks before turning 30.
“Each time I say ‘I’m turning 30,’ I cringe a little. Sometimes I can successfully mask this uncomfortable response with excitement; other times, my enthusiasm feels hollow, like bad acting… turning 30 feels like a cold reminder that I’m running out of time to matter in society’s eyes — and it’s infuriating,” Kryst expressed.
The 30-year-old went on to recall how she was being bullied and trolled over her athletic body on social media and how people told her she was too old to participate in beauty pageants.
“My challenge of the status quo certainly caught the attention of the trolls, and I can’t tell you how many times I have deleted comments on my social media pages that had vomit emojis and insults telling me I wasn’t pretty enough to be Miss USA or that my muscular build was actually a ‘man body,’” she added.
Recalling the year 2020, Kryst revealed how she was forced to spend her 29th birthday alone in her apartment and how she realized that “growing old is a treasure and maturity is a gift not everyone gets to enjoy.”
She said: “Far too many of us allow ourselves to be measured by a standard that some sternly refuse to challenge and others simply acquiesce to because fitting in and going with the flow is easier than rowing against the current.
“I fought this fight before and it’s the battle I’m currently fighting with 30. How do I shake society’s unwavering norms when I’m facing the relentless tick of time? It’s the age-old question: How do I shake society’s unwavering norms when I’m facing the relentless tick of time?”
Following the 30-year-old’s premature death, hundreds of entertainment figures have paid tributes to the successful model, attorney, and host.
Meanwhile, the police have confirmed that the death remains under investigation and that nothing has been ruled out yet even though suicide remains the suspected cause of death.
“The only person who really knows what happened went off the building. We’re doing what we can to investigate what’s left. Preliminarily, it doesn’t appear there’s any criminality to it,” a police source told DailyMail.com.
“The prevailing theory is that it was a suicide. No evidence has come forward that would change that theory at this point. But we’re not ruling anything else out at this point.”
