A six-year-old child was reportedly strangled to death by another older child, who used the victim’s own coat zip to carry out the brutal attack.
The surprise attack case conducted by the older child in 1994 has now again been reopened as the court heard details about what really went on during that devastating act.
Rikki Neave was brutally murdered by another child named James Watson whose trial began today as he is accused of the murder.
Watson carried out the attack that left the child dead in minutes, as revealed by local media reports.
The six-year-old kid’s naked body was left lying alone and found the next day after the remains were placed in a manner that was posed by the alleged killer in woodland, at a distance that was just five minutes away from his home.
Still wearing his school uniform, the child’s body was located near a trash can.
In the year 2016, a cold case review was conducted upon Watson after DNA was taken and matched with that present on the dead child’s clothing.
While Watson reportedly denies all of the murder charges, John Price QC explained that new DNA evidence and a number of other reliable scientific pieces of evidence were currently available that showed how Watson was indeed the killer and so had to be punished for the evil doing.
“This cannot be an unfortunate coincidence. The evidence combines together in a manner that is very clear about what really went on,” the prosecutor’s side argued.
While Watson did feature at the start of the investigation in a prominent manner, he mentioned how he had no physical contact with the child and also did not know him.
But the prosecutors argued how this was not true and the accused knew the victim very well.
