A woman’s vehicle was reportedly found submerged in a river at Niagara Falls as rescue officials rushed to the scene.
Horrifying and shocking video footage showed how the woman deliberately rammed her vehicle in a manner that would make sure her car fell into the Niagara River, sparking shock and concern amongst witnesses.
The woman tragically passed away as her vehicle hit the water on Wednesday when she drove full speed into the famous waterway.
New York State Park’s Police Captain revealed how the woman is yet to be identified but sources added that she hailed from Buffalo.
“At this point into the investigation of this tragic act, the victim’s entry into the waterway appears to be an incident that was done deliberately,” explained the Police Chief as curious reporters looked on for more details into the harrowing event.
After slamming against the water, the vehicle came to a standstill at about 100 to 150 feet from the America Falls, as explained by investigators who were closely following the case.
Meanwhile, the terrifying incident has reportedly gone on to trigger an immediate rescue operation by the Coast Guard, which was caught on camera and is now making viral rounds on social media. The diver can be seen being lowered down into the water from a chopper to try and retrieve the female driver.
However, authorities claim that the woman who appeared to be in her 60’s was soon pronounced dead. Moreover, they also concluded how she was the only person inside the vehicle.
Authorities also spoke about how her vehicle remained in the water as of Thursday, inching closer and closer towards the edge.
The incident is being referred to as absolutely heartbreaking and tragic at the same time as many wonder what could have possibly led the woman to commit such an act and end her life.
For now, authorities are staying silent as investigations into the case continue.
