School shooter Ethan Crumbley’s parents have gone on the run after being charged with manslaughter over their son’s school shooting.
15-year-old Ethan was arrested and charged with one count of terrorism and four counts of murder after killing four and injuring seven after opening fire at Oxford High School.
It has since been revealed that the boy’s parents have been charged with four counts of involuntary manslaughter after the teenager bragged about his dad’s gun online and took the weapon to school to commit the mass shooting.
“These charges are intended to hold the individuals who contributed to this tragedy accountable and also send the message that gun owners have a responsibility,” Oakland County prosecutor Karen McDonald said.
“While the shooter was the one who entered the high school and pulled the trigger, there are other individuals who contributed to the events on November 30 and it’s my intention to hold them accountable as well.”
After being charged with manslaughter, James and Jennifer appeared to have gone on the run, whereas Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard confirmed their whereabouts are still unknown.
“We’ll have them in custody soon. They cannot run from their part in this tragedy,” he said.
In a recent turn of events, it has been revealed that Ethan fired at least 30 rounds at Oxford High School on Tuesday after emerging from the bathroom with his dad’s gun in his hand.
He then “methodically” shot at students at close range with the intent to kill as many people as possible, prosecutors say.
“He deliberately aimed the gun at students and began firing at students. After students started running he continued down the hallway pointing the gun and firing and firing in classrooms and at students who were unable to escape,” Assistant Prosecutor Marc Keast said.
“He methodically and deliberately walked down a hallway, aiming the firearm at students and firing. After children started running away from the defendant, he continued down the hallway again at a deliberate and methodical pace, pointing and aiming inside classrooms and at students who hadn’t had the opportunity to escape.”
