A man has reportedly been allotted a probation sentence by a Judge in New York despite physically abusing four young girls.
The news caused one of the victims to break down into tears after hearing the verdict that sent shockwaves around the country.
Christopher Belter received eight years of probation by Judge Matthew J. Murphy for the act that reportedly destroyed the lives of four young teens, confirmed reports.
He pleaded guilty to all the felony charges relating to r*pe and s*xual abuse but that made no difference because the judge found him worthy of only a probation sentence.
Surprisingly, the judge from the Niagara County courtroom spoke about how any form of prison time would definitely be inappropriate, confusing many of the victims, their families, and other citizens who were following the case very closely.
If sentenced appropriately, the accused would have faced nearly eight years in prison for all of his crimes.
After hearing the shocking verdict, one of the victims that he physically assaulted broke down into tears. In the same way, another victim started to throw up, expressing her extreme shock, disbelief, disgust at the entire situation.
Judge Murphy further added fury to fire when he spoke about how his probation of eight long years would be similar to a sword that hung over his head for the next eight years.
“It appears to me that a sentence that entails incarceration or partial incarceration isn’t appropriate, so I am going to sentence you to probation,” he repeated while announcing the verdict.
On the other hand, witnesses present in the courtroom did not even offer any list of explanations regarding his decision on why he did not choose to impose any form of jail time upon the accused.
