The police continue the manhunt for two young girls and their father who has been accused of kidnapping them.
On Sunday, 6-year-old Aaminah and 7-year-old Giana Vicosa were kidnapped by their father, former Maryland cop Robert Vicosa, and taken to unknown whereabouts.
According to the reports, the two young girls were taken from their mom after the woman’s estranged husband assaulted her and held her hostage in her Windsor, Pennsylvania, home.
After fleeing the family home together with his two children, Robert crashed his car and proceeded to steal another vehicle by holding its owner at gunpoint.
The man then made a getaway in the stolen 2014 Volkswagen Jetta before abandoning the vehicle. The stolen vehicle was later recovered by the police.
As of this writing, the children and their father have yet to be found. As the authorities suggested, the kids are believed to be in severe danger.
“I want to plead to Mr. Vicosa, ‘Sir, you are, at one time, you were a police officer. In your heart, you know that what you are doing is not right,’” Ken Schollenberger of the York Area Regional Police said during a press conference.
Addressing the 42-year-old estranged father, he added:
“You are a father. You are a father to these two young ladies. We’re asking you, we’re pleading with you, take them anywhere that you can. Drop them off at a Sheetz, at a Rutter’s, at any convenience store. Take them anywhere where there’s a responsible person inside that they can go in and call 911. Do the right thing Robert. Bring them back.”
Since the kidnapping, an arrest warrant for the disgraced cop who was fired for insubordination and sleeping on duty has been issued.
As of this writing, the authorities have not yet issued an Amber Alert due to a lack of information about the man’s current whereabouts and the vehicle he is driving.
“We were seconds away from issuing an Amber Alert. Unfortunately, we found the car that he was in, and he was not located in it,” Schollenberger revealed as the police suggested the kidnapper might have switched to a black 2013 Lexus G350 after abandoning the stolen Volkswagen.
“At this point, the Amber Alert typically attaches to a vehicle or registration plate. We don’t have a vehicle or registration plate now because the last one that he was in, he abandoned.”
The police urge anyone with information that could lead to the man’s arrest and the girls’ recovery to contact the authorities immediately.
