Rugby legend Jannie du Plessis was struck with immense grief after his 10-month-old baby son tragically passed away on the star’s birthday.
According to local media reports, the South African rugby superstar’s baby drowned in a pool as he was celebrating his birthday. Just last Sunday, the little baby was christened and days later, the family was forced to bury their angel in what is being termed as the most unfortunate circumstances imaginable.
Investigations into the case revealed how the young child drowned to his death after falling inside the family’s swimming pool by accident, just as his father was celebrating his 39 years of life at the family’s residence in Krugersdorp.
A close friend of the family spoke about how the family is beyond heartbroken and devastated after the tragedy unfolded.
Du Plessis and his wife have two more children.
They include daughters named Rosalie and Hele. Moreover, the family reportedly lives at a detached home that is situated just west of the South African city of Johannesburg, another source revealed.The incident reportedly took place on Tuesday night as he took a tumble into the swimming pool, explained to police officers that arrived at the tragic scene. Investigations into the unfortunate event are currently taking place as the family made their arrangements to bid their final farewell to the little angel.
Meanwhile, fellow team player Albert van der Linde who is known to be a close friend of Du Plessis put up an emotional post via his Twitter account which featured a loving family picture of the star with his wife and late son.
He requested all of his fans and followers to please remember the family during this distressed and grief-filled period while offering his own condolences.
