A young mother was critically wounded while protecting her young daughter during a road rage incident.

The case takes place in San Antonio, Texas, where a 29-year-old mom was reportedly shot in the back while defending her daughter from a gunman who started shooting at her vehicle.

As the police have revealed, the shooting occurred in the city’s South Side near Interstate 35 where an unidentified suspect became enraged thinking they were cut off by the mother who was driving her husband’s sedan with her partner beside her and her daughter in the back seat.

The gunman then reportedly pulled out their gun and started shooting at the family’s car, prompting the young mom to dive into the back of the car in an attempt to protect her daughter from flying bullets.

During the altercation, several bullets were fired and the woman was critically shot in the back by one of them.

After the incident, the mother’s husband immediately took his wife to Mission Trails Baptist Hospital from where she was rushed to a trauma center.

As of this writing, the woman remains in a critical condition and is being treated for life-threatening injuries.

According to the reports, the woman’s husband and daughter were not physically injured during the incident.

Following the daytime road rage in the city, the police have launched a manhunt for the suspect who fled the scene. They have since also begun reviewing security footage in an attempt to track down and arrest the suspect.
