Transgender YouTuber was arrested on an incest charge involving her dementia-stricken mother.
On Sunday, Chan, 39, who goes by the name Christine Weston Chandler, was detained in the Henrico County Jail in Virginia over incest charges, which is punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
Chan was transferred the next day to Greene County, where the sheriff’s office issued a statement confirming her arrest.
A warrant was issued for Chan’s arrest after investigators ‘received information involving sex crimes against a family member, who resides in the Ruckersville area,’ a press release from county law enforcement reads.
For many years, Chan has lived with her 79-year-old mother, Barbara, in Ruckersville, Virginia.
Newsweek reported that Chan is currently being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail and the sheriff’s office said additional charges were pending.
The 39-year-old’s arrest came just days after a phone call was leaked on a messaging platform, on which a person believed to be Chan seemingly admitted to having sex with her elderly mother, who is believed to suffer from dementia.
At the time of this writing, the authenticity of the audio recording hasn’t been confirmed.
Newsweek reported that according to the audio file, Chan apparently tells a friend that it was her mother, Barbara, who ‘made the first move,’ and the two shared a kiss.
Chand then allegedly claimed that she approached the situation with ‘care and caution’ after years of hiding her sexual feelings for her elderly mother, and even having dreams of having sex with her.
“She was partially confused at one point, but then she came around, obviously,” Chan allegedly said on the call.
Still, on the audio file, Chan can be heard saying that she and her mother now have a ‘routine’ where they have sex ‘every third night’, and that her mother enjoys it.
“God said this was okay,” Chan allegedly told her friend toward the end of the recording.
The YouTuber has featured Barbara on her social media pages several times over the years, most recently on July 11, when she shared photos of her elderly mother with a new haircut.
“Barbie Chan got a styling haircut,” Chan captioned the photo. “I did that; first time cutting anyone’s hair. It looks really good.”
Back in May, Chan shared a series of photos of Barbara as a younger woman.
“Hi, Mom. Remember, everyone, regardless of the situation, your Mom, Mother, or Motherly Figure had a life and past of her own back in the day before you came along,” Chan captioned the post. “She has gone through a lot for not only you and yours but herself as well.”
On July 30, Chan’s final public post came when she tweeted that there’s ‘drama in the air today’.
“There is drama in the air today,” she tweeted. “Each and every one of you all is encouraged to withdraw from any and all dramas, gossip, rumors, and whatever else will, and already has, approached your way today.”
The next day after the drama tweet, Chan was filmed by alt-right podcaster Ethan Ralph getting arrested by police at the Regency Inn in Richmond, Virginia.
“I am compliant, I am good like this,” a handcuffed Chan said in the video. “Everything is going to work out”.
Chan is best known for creating the comic series characters Sonichu, which is a crossover between Pikachu and Sonic the Hedgehog, and its love interest, Rosechu. She has 50,000 subscribers on YouTube.
