Chicago’s Mayor is definitely not in the mood of issuing any form of apologies regarding her decision to speak to reporters of color.
Recently, she was caught in the middle of an interview where she added how she would defend her decision of speaking only to reporters of color, without any form of hesitation. In addition, she boldly added how it was a decision of her choice and one that she certainly planned on continuing.
Lori Lightfoot who is a Democrat turned plenty of heads when she explained how she enjoys speaking to non-White reporters and would certainly carry on doing so without any form of guilt.
But the decision was certainly controversial, with plenty of journalists raising their issues and concerns over the matter, adding how it was absolutely unacceptable for anyone in power to indulge in the behavior of this form while holding such a senior position in the office.
“The reason why I would do it again has to do with the great controversy that it managed to spur in such a short time,” she added.
It made so many people aware of a conversation that was of the utmost essence. It was a conversation that needed to happen,” the Democrat was caught mentioning during a recent interview with Chicago Media.
The mayor made the decision to only speak to Black or Brown reporters when she marked her two-year anniversary in office. In addition, she was also caught calling out the Chicago press for its overwhelming white majority.
But as it stands today, the decision is again being looked down upon as many felt that the major might have a change in thought and heart over the wide-criticized stance that she possesses.
But instead, she’s making her voice clear about how she is a Black Mayor who is in charge of the third-largest city in the USA. And for that reason, she firmly believes that she needs to advocate those thoughts that are important to her.
