So you might have seen super normal-looking squirrels in your front or back yard going around looking for food.
But have you ever seen fat squirrels though?
Like fat squirrels, 2019 were super famous because some of them were so fat people had to make sure they were squirrels and not cats or whatever.

Why was there an increase in fat squirrels in 2019?
Apparently, according to some research centers in England and America, climate change has basically made a drastic change in everyone’s life.
Where we’ve been feeling extra hot and staying indoors since last year’s summer, some animals have gotten so much time out for themselves.
So on one hand, there was an extreme case of polar bears or penguins going almost extinct but on the other hand, the life of animals, of especially warm weather bearers, it’s become more fun and common. You’ll see more squirrels out this summer than ever because they just love this weather.

It’s just like a period for them as it is for us humans this past couple of months. We’ve been staying indoors and eating, becoming fat and these fat squirrels are becoming so fat that there are legit, fat squirrel memes out there!

David Sugarman of the Ontario Science Centre says: “It’s been super warm in Canada throughout especially in Ontario. Basically, these fat squirrels are such that they have got some time on their hands. They collect nuts and just eating it all up making themselves all cozy and relaxed for the winter.

Increased production of acorn in England
In the UK, it was pleasantly and oddly warmer in December compared to last year. It was recorded as the wettest month resulting in increased production of the acorn; the all-time favorite food of squirrels.
Iolo Williams is a naturalist who says “It’s been very warm this winter. Squirrels are omnivores so they just eat anything and everything. So I can guess these non-native squirrels, the grey ones will do much better this and the next year.”
Fat squirrels don’t mean unhealthy squirrels

Truth be told, squirrels can actually self-regulate their body weight. Some extra ounces of weight that they’ve gained is very unlikely to cause them some health damage or problems. So they’re good to go, let ’em eat!
Everyone loves fat squirrels but we all know they’re temporary
Don’t get us wrong! Fat squirrels are the CUTEST animals of all. This fatness is temporary becomes comes heavy wintertime, snow and decreased temperatures, these squirrels are going to hibernate and eventually shed these ounces off and go back to being normal.
