Former child star Evan Ellingson has passed away at the age of 35.
Best known for starring in the 2009 film ‘My Sister’s Keeper,’ Ellingson was reportedly found dead in his home in Fontana, California, on Sunday.
The cause of death has not been determined but officials have confirmed that there were no signs of foul play.
According to TMZ, Ellingson’s grieving father revealed that the star struggled with addiction and passed away in a sober-living home.
His sudden death came as a huge shock to his loved ones as the actor was ‘doing really well.’
One of his most memorable roles was as Jesse in My Sister’s Keeper, alongside a cast that included Alec Baldwin, Abigal Breslin, Jason Patric, and Cameron Diaz.
He also appeared in ‘CSI: Miami’ as the son of David Caruso’s Lt. Horatio Caine.
Ellingson, who was raised in California with his three brothers, also played nephew to Kiefer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer on TV series 24.
His bio on IMDb states that he was “discovered at a skate park and was asked to not only skate for the Vans PeeWee team, but to do a commercial for the Vans Company.”
Thanks to his ‘unmistakable charisma and talent,’ he was ‘asked to do a trilogy of short films playing a character that was written specifically for him.’
In a 2009 interview with The Philippine Star to promote CSI: Miami, he said: “I never had the same [childhood] experience with my friends. I never had more time with them. However, my childhood was a cool one. I was busy doing the things I love.
“I had no regrets because I found my passion for acting early on.”
