A former Miss World contestant has passed away at the age of just 26 after succumbing to her disease.
Sherika de Armas was a Uruguayan national and beauty queen who represented her country at the 2015 Miss World when she was just 18 years old.
Now, the 26-year-old model succumbed to her illness after privately battling cervical cancer for two years.
Tributes to the young lady have since begun pouring, with the current Miss Uruguay branding Sherika as one of the most beautiful women she’s ever seen.
“Fly high, little sister. Always and forever,” her brother, Mayk’ De Armas, wrote.
“I remember you with that beautiful glow,” a close friend added.
Previously, in 2015, the beauty queen opened up about her passion for the catwalk and everything related to fashion.
“I always wanted to be a model, whether a beauty model, an advertising model or a catwalk model,” she told NetUruguay in a translated interview.
“I like everything related to fashion and I think that within a beauty pageant, any girl’s dream is to have the opportunity to participate in Miss Universe. I am very happy to be able to live this experience full of challenges.”
Besides her career as a beauty queen, de Armas also made a business out of selling make up and personal care products through Shey De Armas Beauty Studio.
The young beauty also devoted a fair share of resources to the childhood cancer organization Pérez Scremini Foundation.
Our thoughts remain with Sherika’s loved ones during this challenging time.
