Katy Perry has finally broken her silence after her ex-husband Russell Brand was accused of r*pe and assa*lt over a seven-year period.
The comedian and actor has been accused by four women who claimed the incidents occurred between 2006 and 2013.
He is also said to have behaved inappropriately during the height of his fame, including acting aggressively, undressing and making s*xual comments.
After remaining silent on the claims, Perry has finally spoken out for the first time on social media.
The Fireworks hitmaker took to Instagram and shared images of her new line of cowboy boots, including a photo of herself on a scooter.
“Scootin n bootin,” she wrote, avoiding any mention of Brand after she previously admitted that she became aware of the ‘truth’ about her ex-husband.
In a 2013 interview with Vogue, the singer seemed to drop a hint about undisclosed aspects of her ex’s life.
During the interview, Perry discussed her marriage with Brand and described it as ‘controlling’ and ‘hurtful.’
The Roar singer said that she was deeply in love with Brand when they tied the knot on October 23, 2010, but their marriage lasted for only 14 months.
Perry shared her perspective on the comedian’s changing behavior, saying that he initially sought an equal partnership. But Brand ‘struggled’ with her taking on a more dominant role.
She also hinted about undisclosed information, saying: “I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending, but then I found out the real truth, which I can’t necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rainy day. I let go and I was like, ‘This isn’t because of me; this is beyond me.’ So I have moved on from that.”
