Madonna’s family has revealed that they ‘all believed we may lose her’ after she was rushed to a hospital.
The 64-year-old singer was reportedly rushed to the ICU after she was found unresponsive on Saturday.
Her manager Guy Oseary revealed that she was battling ‘serious bacterial infection’ so they would postpone her tour, which was supposed to start on July 15.
A family member told Daily Mail that they spent agonizing days as they were not sure if the singer was going to make it.
“For the past couple of days, no one really knew which direction this was going to turn, and her family was preparing for the worst,” the relative expressed.
“That is why it was kept a secret since Saturday.
“Everyone believed that we may lose her and that has been the reality of the situation.”
Madonna’s eldest daughter, Lourdes, was by her side throughout her stay in the hospital. The singer’s six children are Lourdes, 26, Rocco, 22, David, 17, Mercy, 17, and twins Estere and Stella, 10.
“All of Madonna’s family members have come together over this,” the relative shared, adding that the incident served as a reminder to Madonna that she needed to take care of herself.
“This really woke her the f*** up,” the relative went on. “She has not been living as healthy a life as she should be for her age, and she has been wearing herself thin over the past couple of months.
“She thinks that she is still young when, in fact, she is not. She also believes that she is invincible.”
Insiders said that Madonna has been working nonstop to make sure that her upcoming tour is perfect, with one telling Daily Mail that she was ‘driving everyone up the wall with her perfectionism.’
On Wednesday, discussion of her tour was not allowed as the singer needed to rest.
“No one is allowed to even mention anything work related around her because she will lose her s***,” the relative continued.
“She will put her career and her fame before her health until the day she is dead.”
Oseary said in his Instagram post that Madonna is ‘expected to make a full recovery’ and that her condition is ‘improving’ but the mother-of-six is ‘still under medical care.’
