Several teenagers were arrested on suspicion of murder after a boy was stabbed to death during a house party on Saturday.
Nine boys and two girls were taken into custody in Bath, UK, after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death at a birthday party that attracted around 200 people.
The incident took place on Eastfield Avenue where a large number of teenagers gathered at a house to play loud music and party in celebration of someone’s birthday.
At around 11 pm, the police received a call about a stabbing at the venue. Upon responding to the residence, the authorities discovered the lifeless 16-year-old and a 35-year-old woman who was treated for her injuries and discharged from the hospital.
Since the deadly house party, several witnesses allegedly came forward to share information aiding the investigation into the stabbings.
“I could hear really loud music banging for hours, it sounded like they had a DJ there,” one local said.
“There were probably 200-odd kids at the house. They posted about the party on social media and that’s why so many people turned up.”
According to the reports, the police responded to the scene in minutes after receiving the report thanks to two patrol cars being stationed just blocks away.
“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts this morning are very much with the family of the boy who has died,” Chief Inspector Ronald Lungu said.
“They were informed of what happened as soon as possible and are understandably devastated. Specialist family liaison officers will now be assigned to them to provide them with support and keep them updated.
“Officers arrived at the scene within minutes of the first call being received and an investigation into the incident is already being carried out, led by the Major Crime Investigation Team.
“We’ve identified a number of witnesses and we’ll be taking formal statements from them in due course but we’re also keen to hear from anyone who was at the address at the time who hasn’t yet spoken to police.”
