A 911 audio captured a male caller in Utah reporting a domestic abuse incident involving Gabby Petito and her boyfriend Brian Laundrie days before the van-life girl disappeared.
In the chilling audio obtained by Daily Mail, the caller tells a Grant County sheriff that a man had slapped a girl in a white van with a Florida license plate on August 12.
He also says that it happened ‘by Moonflower,’ referring to the Moonflower Community Cooperative in Moab, where Petito and her boyfriend stayed on August 11. The place is also where they were reportedly seen having an argument.
“I’m right in the corner of Main Street by Moonflower and we are driving by and I’d like to report a domestic dispute. Florida with a white van – Florida license plate, white van,” the caller says.
“They just drove off. They’re going towards Main Street. They made a right onto Main Street from Moonflower. We drove by him, a gentleman was slapping the girl.”
“He was slapping her?” the officer asks.
“Yes. And then we stopped. They ran down and up the sidewalk. He proceeded to hit her, hopped in the car and they drove off,” the caller replies.
After the 911 call, Laundrie and Petito were stopped by Moab Police and were filmed in police bodycam.
In the emotional video, Petito tells officers that she “was trying to get him to stop telling (her) to calm down” and admitted that they had “been fighting all morning.”
On Sunday, authorities found a body at a campsite in Wyoming only days after Laundrie vanished from his parents’ home in Florida.
The remains are believed to be Petito’s.
