An innocent 5-year-old boy has tragically passed away after he was accidentally shot by a teen who happened to be recording a video for social media.
Local media outlets spoke about how the tragic incident took place on Thanksgiving Day when a teen from Minnesota was busy recording his video for social media with a group of his other pals. This group comprised of four to five kids where they had gathered for a family event, as reported by local cops.
But at about 10:20, cops revealed how they were forced to rush to the scene after the complaints of a shooting incident, with the location being identified as Florida Avenue.
To their absolute horror, they found a dead child’s body on the ground at the crime scene, as stated by the chief of the Brooklyn Police Department.
Meanwhile, a preliminary investigation went on to reveal how the suspect was actually a 13-year-old who went about shooting the young child while he and several others carried out the filming for a social media video.
“The investigation is currently in its initial stages and that’s when we’ve found out how the 13-year-old male was present in the home and was handling a gun,” read the statement revealed by the cops.
In the same way, the police spoke about how there were several other juveniles present at the scene as they wished to film their video together.
“At some point in the act, the 13-year-old male shot the gun he was handling and the bullet struck the 5-year-old child,” it went on to mention.
It is still unclear as to why so many young kids were in possession of a gun and where exactly their parents were at that moment.
For now, the alleged shooter is in police custody at the Hennepin County Detention Center where he could potentially face manslaughter charges.
