A young girl from Bolivia has reportedly undergone an abortion after carrying her step grandfather’s child.

According to local media reports, the girl who has not been named, fell pregnant when she was just 11 years old by her step-grandfather.

While the family was reluctant for the girl to have an abortion at 11 weeks of gestation, they finally agreed and allowed her to move forward with the decision.

“The family did everything to try and pressurize her and prevent her from terminating the pregnancy,” authorities revealed.

Currently, the young girl is recovering in the hospital, after she underwent the painful procedure on Monday, reports confirmed.

But why did the family refuse their young girl from carrying forward with the abortion was a question on so many people’s minds and that’s when it was revealed how the mother got pressure from a Catholic organization that did not believe in the ideology of terminating life.

The young girl became impregnated by a 61-year-old man who was actually her step-grandfather. Moreover, authorities revealed how the shocking incident took place in the province of Ichilo which is situated on the eastern side of Santa Cruz.

Initially, the abortion was planned to occur on the 21st of October as revealed by a local news agency but soon, the mother’s interference delayed the entire procedure after the intervention by a Catholic organization that called her and pressurized her.

This reportedly went against all the wishes of the doctors who were treating the young girl as well as all the judicial authorities who advised for the termination of the pregnancy as soon as possible.

The horrifying news caused an outcry in the entire nation which appeared to settle down soon after the abortion was finally carried out in Bolivia.
